Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a robbery in Torquay after a 33-year-old security guard was attacked by two unknown men who then took a cash box from him.

The incident happened yesterday [Wednesday 22 November] at around 1.45pm outside the Sainsbury’s Local on Greenway Road in St Marychurch.

The victim was struck with what is believed to have been a hammer. The two suspects then wrestled the cash box from the victim and fled the scene into a waiting vehicle.

One other unknown man was within the waiting car which drove from the scene at speed.

The car was a silver Vauxhall estate which down St Marychurch Road in the direction of Westhill Road. Did you see this vehicle?

The victim was released from hospital with minor injuries.

Police are keen to trace witnesses to the incident and anyone who saw the vehicle before, during or after the robbery.
