Cycle, run or skate your way around Torbay Velopark.
Torbay Velopark has now been open for two and a half years, and has had over 17,500 visits! The park is now aiming to exceed 20,000 visits by its third birthday in July.

The Velopark is a multi-sport facility that was created to provide a safe environment for local residents and visitors to use their bikes and ride off road. But over the past three years it has turned into more than that. A range of cycling events take place every year along with the opportunity to use the track for scootering, running and skating.
Executive Lead for Sport, Councillor Robert Excell, said: “We would like to thank all of our users for their continued support over the last two and a half years. The Velopark is perfect for families to safely ride their bikes, as well as a good place for professionals to practice. We have a range of different types of bikes to ensure that everybody has the same opportunities.
“The flat track at the park has also led itself to a wide range of events, so if cycling isn’t for you, how about trying one of the many other sport and leisure activities that are available. For those of you that are yet to visit, I strongly recommend it.”
The track at the Velopark is suitable for everyone, from beginners to racers and people who haven’t been on a bike for a long time. If you don’t have access to a bike, or cannot get your bike to the park, there is a large range of different bikes for hire. These include balance bikes, trikes, recumbent bikes and even a tandem for people with sight difficulties or just want to ride with a friend. There are also bikes with trailers, seat attachments and tag along bikes for younger children.
During weekends and school holidays, hot drinks and cakes are available to buy.
For a completely different activity on wheels, throughout the summer months, Revolution Skate will be running their popular roller skating sessions on the track on Friday nights. You can bring your own roller skates or hire them when you’re there.
The Torbay Velopark is also home to a regular free Parkrun that takes place every Saturday morning. The Parkrun is a timed, five kilometre run which everyone can take part in. This run is proving to be very popular with over 200 people turning up every week!
If you are interested in taking part in cycling competitions, come along and join in with British Cycling or the Mid Devon Cycling Club.
Throughout the year, the Velopark also hosts events such as the Rowcroft Sleepwalk, Geopark Adventure Series and National Races. These are perfect for those of you that want to set yourself a challenge!
