Have Your Say On Pavilion Plans

The debate about the future of the Pavilion continued this week with one group putting forward what they see as an alternative plan.

This plan was covered by the Herald Express and you can see the images produced of it, plus read comments from those behind it, by clicking here.

You can also see more details of the proposals being put forward by the developers behind the plans advanced recently on the Council’s website. TUFC Takeover Is Off

Earlier this week Gulls Chairman Dave Phillips indicated the deal was off, with a potential purchase of the Plainmoor Ground from the Council being the key stumbling block. You can read his comments on the Herald Express website by clicking here.

Today the company concerned indicated they might still be interested if they could buy the stadium. You can read their comments on the Herald Express website by clicking here.

Many people want to see a successful football club here in the bay and new investment could make a crucial difference. Yet having seen projects involving football clubs elsewhere take a course that was not expected it is right that any change in the ownership or status of the Plainmoor Ground or new ground should only be done if clearly in the interest of local residents and taxpayers, plus the long term interests of the club itself.

Finally the Club’s manager Kevin Nicholson has this week appealed for fans to consider donating £25 to the Players Fund. You can find details of this by clicking here.

Cruise Ships In The Bay

If you had looked out to sea yesterday you would have seen not one, but two cruise ships moored in our beautiful bay.

If you wondered which ships they were and where they had come from you can found out more on the Herald Express website by clicking here.  Also, you can see the current position of ships on the SLRA site, here.

Rhino Trail

The Great Big Rhinos Trail went live this week and unlike those playing Pokemon Go there is no need to use any app to catch them all.

Whilst the serious purpose is raising money for Rhino conservation this trail promises to be a lot of fun for residents and visitors this summer. If you want to see them all you can find their locations by visiting the project’s website by clicking here.

THHN Appeal For Help

Torbay Holiday Helpers Network is a local charity that does great work helping make memories for families facing terminal illness or dealing with bereavement.

The local businesses involved ensure families can have a very special holiday that allows them to forget their worries and have special moments that may be remembered for decades afterwards.

One of their major fundraisers each year is the city to sea run. This year it is taking place on Saturday 3rd September, but they need volunteers to take on a range of roles to make the day a success.

This week they made an appeal for help through the media and if you might be able to assist THHN you can find details of how to do so by clicking here.

Council Parking Consultation

Residents have until Friday 26th August to have their say on a new Parking Strategy being proposed by Torbay Council.

The strategy sets out the key work areas for Parking Services over the next five years. The Council says it has been prepared with the future of parking in the Bay in mind and in response to the findings of a Review of Parking consultation which took place earlier this year.

You can read the proposed strategy, plus find out how to comment on it, by clicking here. The deadline for feedback is Friday 26th August 2016.
