SONGS FOR ALL – Palace Avenue Methodist Church, Paignton.
7.30 pm, Saturday 3rd October
The St. Ives Community Choir will be giving a lively and fun concert this coming Saturday, 3rd October.
Proceeds will go to The Joseph Foundation – a charity to help Romanian ex-orphans (now recovering adults) to live independently in their community.
Local author, Rita Trotman, first went to Romania in 1991 after hearing about the appalling conditions in the orphanages. She was so moved by the plight of the children and young people she met, that she has fought to support them for over 20 years. Her book, ‘Sunlight Through the Shadows‘ is one of the first detailed inside accounts of the orphanages – much of it narrated by three boys who survived the regime. Rita will be attending the concert and will be pleased to talk about her experiences and her latest, recent visit to the village she first travelled to 25 years ago.
Tickets for the concert cost £10 on the door or £8 in advance from the Torbay Bookshop where copies of Rita’s book are available. All proceeds to The Joseph Foundation.
