Flags, bunting and balloons gave the area a festive air, and the glorious sunny afternoon added to the happy atmosphere.

This event followed hot on the heels of the very generous invitation from local resident, Basil Brown, for neighbours to join him on his balcony for a grandstand view of the Red Arrows last week.

Altogether about fifty local residents and friends enjoyed themselves at the street party, taking part in the various activities and listening to the live music. The bar and BBQ at the Brampton Court Hotel was also very popular and the hotel are very generously donating the BBQ profits to the St Luke’s Residents’ Association fund.

The purpose of SLRA is to engender a strong community spirit, and the success of both events have shown that this idea has been well supported.

Special thanks must go to all of the volunteers who worked hard to make the street party such a successful day, to Brampton Court for their support and to those local businesses who donated prizes and goods (ASDA, Waitrose, Kents Cavern, and Roly’s Ice Cream & Fudge). In total we raised £147.52p.
